The outer planets are considered malefic for the most part, unreasonably so I think. While discussing the outer planets the issue of planets and war came up and so I thought I’d take a sampling of war data and planetary placements and see if there was indeed a pattern pointing to one planet or another as particularly malefic.
Uranus was discovered in 1781, it was discovered in the same month that the articles of Confederation were ratified. March. Coincidently, Uranus was at 24 degrees of Gemini at this time. The SUN was at 25 Gemini when the Battle of Bunker Hill took place, at 26 degrees Gemini when the French revolution began, and when Napoleon met his Waterloo. The Sun was also at 26 degrees when the US declared war on Britain in 1812.
Uranus was at 26 degrees of Gem when Robert E Lee surrendered and when Lincoln was assassinated. Saturn was at 23 Gemini when Archduke Ferdinand was assassinated, 27 degrees when Germany declared war on Russia ( 1 Aug 1914) 28 degrees during the first Air Raid on Britain and 25 degrees when the Lusitania was sunk. Mars was at 26 Gem on VJ Day, September 2nd 1945.
Okay so what is going on at 25 degrees of Gemini I wonder? Well the Fixed Stars of Polaris and Betelgeuse roam the sky in that particular arena, these stars were thought to be malefic by the ancient Arab Astrologers, foretelling danger, sickness and loss. Al Hecka is also located near there though it is a fortuitous star denoting Honor, wealth, GREED and AGRESSION.
Another pattern I noticed while looking at these charts is that there are seeds of the end of the war in some event that portends the war. For instance, the Napoleonic wars beginning and ending with the Sun at 26 degrees of Gemini. Mars was at 29 of Sagittarius for the first Air Raid on Britain and at 29 of Sagittarius on Armistice Day, November 11, 1918. The Sun was at 5 degrees of Cancer for the beginning of WWI, Pluto was at 6 degrees of Cancer for the wars end. Britain re-instated the draft prior to WWII with the Sun at 26 of Taurus, a less than fortuitous timing, as they lost a horrific number of people in that war. The malefic Star of Algol resides at point in the sky. Britain and France declared war on Germany with sun at 9 Degrees of Virgo, and the final end of WWII was VJ day with the sun at 9 of Virgo. Pearl Harbor was attacked while sun was at 14 degrees of Sagittarius, and the atom bomb was dropped at 13 degrees of Leo, so indeed Fire was met with fire. (I haven’t had time to look at the fire bombings of Tokyo and Dresden but I would not be surprised to find fire in those charts either) Also at the attack on Pearl, Saturn and Uranus were at 23 and 27 degrees of Taurus, which does not surprise me, but I did not see any such link in the August 6, 1945 bombing, which does surprise me.
Both the Korean and Vietnam wars seemed tied to VJ Day in some manner. On VJ Day Venus was at 3 degrees of Leo, Neptune at 5 degrees of Libra Uranus at 17 of Gemini and Mercury at 22 Leo. At the end of the Korean conflict the Sun was at 3 degrees of Leo, Jupiter was at 17 of Gemini, and Pluto at 22 Leo. At the end of the Vietnam conflict Pluto was at 4 degrees of Libra, Saturn at 14 degrees of Gemini. Vietnam was tied to the Korean conflict in that Uranus was at 23 of Libra at the end of the Vietnam conflict while Saturn and Neptune were both at 21 of Libra at the end of the Korean conflict. By the way Saturn is fully exalted at 21 degrees of Libra. I find that an interesting placement for the end of a war.
In the Gulf War the Sun was at 9 degrees of Leo when the war began and the moon as about 13 Leo when the war ended (not that it has really) In fact I’ll go out on a limb here and suggest that near August 3rd of next year 2005, should see the final end of that conflict. Okay enjoy the attached charts for making some of your own comparisons.
One more pattern I’d like to point out, in 19 of the 52 charts I perused, the moon was Void of Course. That is rather a lot of Void. This indicates an undecided outcome of actions. Interesting!
Some of the outer planets may indeed be malefic, but I think the seeds of war lay more in what portion of the sky a malefic is in, than in just being a malefic planet. I will look at this more closely in the next article. I’ll attempt to look at the transits of some of these wars over the natal charts of some of the countries involved. That should prove to be a lot of work! Sigh. Dates of Interest
Notes: Much of the data I collected on Birth dates and times come from the astrodatabank, the Llewellyn Journal, and a kindly pointer from Garry Phillipson. Interpretations are entirely my own twisted thinking!
